We are now enrolling for our next Social Skills Group starting on Saturday, February 2nd, and meeting weekly on Saturdays through March 23rd. We are enrolling for ages 3 to teens. Please note: the deadline to enroll is Tuesday, January 8, 2019!
Social Play: 9:00am – 11:00am
During the preschool years, children expand from parallel play to social play. Social play is when peers start to build ideas off of one another, play games, learn turn-taking, and sharing. This cooperative playgroup contrives opportunities to learn each of these skills and ensures your child will be reinforced for their efforts.
Self-Awareness: 11:30am – 1:30pm
Early social skills emerge at different rates among all young children. These critical skills set the stage for future success in navigating the nuances of social interaction. This group will focus on critical early social skills including appropriate play, greeting others, and initiating meaningful play interactions.
Friendship: 11:30am – 1:30pm
Cooperation and teamwork are critical to success in all social environments. The skills needed to successfully cooperate and work as a team do not always come easily. It can be challenging to learn to listen to the desires of others, compromise, and learn when to lead or follow. This group will focus on the various skills needed to be successful in groups and cooperate with others.
Perspectives: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
As teens approach adulthood, they face an ever-changing set of expectations and challenges. The demands of the world around them increase at rates that sometimes outpace their personal development. This becomes especially challenging in the social arena. This group will focus on identifying what the expectations are in various social situations and then how best to manage each situation. The group will help “build the social toolkit” for each participant to empower them to build their social world as they move towards adulthood.
The cost for the 8-week session is $700. Alternatively, we are in-network with UnitedHealthcare, BCBS, and Aetna and accept payment from insurance, subject to insurance authorization. We also accept the Empowerment Scholarship. The sessions will begin with a pre-assessment to determine goals for each child and conclude with an assessment of progress made against those goals.
