My brother was diagnosed with Autism when I was 7 years old. I remember thinking that he will never learn to talk, play sports, graduate high school or go to college. Fortunately, I was wrong and I have been able to see my brother do all of those things. I also know how much hard work and dedication is needed from the family and professionals to make stories like my brother’s happen, and it is why I am so passionate and dedicated to this field.
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2014. During this time, I provided respite and habilitation serving youth, adolescents and adults. After graduation, I worked as a registered behavior technician, mostly working in the area of behavior reduction of severe/complex behavior in home, school and clinical settings. Furthermore, I have had experience training both staff and family members on Functional Behavior Assessments, and using both Natural Environment Teaching and Discrete Trial Training to facilitate skill acquisition in my clients. Currently, I am completing my Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis and completing the necessary supervised fieldwork in order to become a BCBA.
