My brother was diagnosed with Autism when I was 7 years old. I remember thinking that he will never learn to talk, play sports, graduate high school or go to college. Fortunately, I was wrong and I have been able to see my brother do all of those things. I also know how much hard work and dedication is needed from the family and professionals to make stories like my brother’s happen, and it is why I am so passionate and dedicated to this field.
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2014. During this time, I provided respite and habilitation serving youth, adolescents and adults. After graduation, I worked as a registered behavior technician, mostly working in the area of behavior reduction of severe/complex behavior in home, school and clinical settings. Furthermore, I have had experience training both staff and family members on Functional Behavior Assessments, and using both Natural Environment Teaching and Discrete Trial Training to facilitate skill acquisition in my clients.
