Abbie Avelar, M.A., BCBA, LBA, SLPA
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Abbie Avelar joined Ally Pediatric in January of 2019. She began working in this field in 2015 as a Respite and Habilitation provider for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders in early intervention programs. She later transitioned to becoming a Registered behavior technician with a heavy focus on early intensive behavioral intervention programs.
She fell so in love with the field that she then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Arizona State University. Additionally, she obtained her Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) certificate and is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Abbie worked as an SLPA at Ally Pediatric Therapy implementing speech/language and feeding therapy before transitioning to the role of Lead Registered Behavior Technician. She has extensive experience implementing Skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs, within a clinic and home setting.
In May of 2021, Abbie earned her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis with an Emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Ball State University. She became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in July of 2021.
Abbie enjoys running, spending time with her family, and loves dogs! Her favorite part of working in this field is being able to make a positive impact on children’s and family’s lives.
